The Rancho Mirage High School Student Essay Finalists will receive awards from the Palm Springs Writers Guild.  The First Place winner will read her work.

     

“THIS I BELIEVE” ESSAY CONTEST: The Rancho Mirage High School conducted an essay contest with their student body of approximately 1568 students participating. The theme for the contest was “This I Believe” designed for the school and led by Robin Hinchliffe, one of the school’s English teachers. The students’ essays were presented to their English teachers who determined each grade level finalist. The Literary Society of the Desert provided judges who then reviewed the essay of each finalist and selected the following four grade level winners and an overall winner:

12th grade- Asusena Munoz

GUILD REPRESENTATIVES: Donna Martin and Cheryl Duryea attended the four assemblies representing the Literary Society of the Desert and Marly Bergerud represented the Palm Springs Writers Guild. Both organizations provided monetary awards to each of the winning students and assisted the Rancho Mirage faculty in presenting Certificates and awards to the winners.

PSWG MAY 5th MEETING: The Palm Springs Writers Guild has invited to its May 5th General Meeting the first place winners and the  overall winner to receive their Certificate from PSWG and monetary award. Additionally, the parents, friends, and teachers of RMHS are welcome to attend.

NEW STUDENT MEMBERSHIP: Ms Hinchliffe announced at each of the assemblies that the Palm Springs Writers Guild is providing an annual Student Membership for $25 with a live link on the PSWG web site for joining.


The 500 word Monthly Contest will be awarded, the story read.  

The theme was “An Unusual Relationship.”



The Memoir Contest winners will be announced and awards given.
