Description of talk:

This entertaining and inspiring three-hour workshop on novel research and completion is based on author DeAnn Lubell’s sometimes unexplainable, unbelievable, and dangerous experiences during travels to faraway exotic lands while gathering additional information and in-depth research for her two historical novels.  The goal of the workshop is to show attendees how to create a vivid, realistic, and exciting experience for their reading audience as the direct result of proper investigative research.

  • What was the initial inspiration for your novel or historical novel – what triggered the interest?
  • Read, listen, observe - books, online sites, audio tapes, documentaries, movies, museums
  • Interview historians and descendants regarding the subject matter of your historical novel
  • Travel, exploration, and first-hand experiences – become important contributions to your story
  • Character identification and development – balancing real life historical characters with fictional ones
  • Basic outline and timeline for historical novel – when it is time to start writing (When is it time to stop researching and to start writing?)
  • Keeping it real — the art of blending fact with fiction
Unable to attend, no problem, all paid registrants will receive a video replay of this presentation. In addition the first 10 paid registrants will receive a free signed copy of DeAnn’s book The Last Moon.
